Unpleasant musings
Aug. 25th, 2003 10:25 pmIt is a subject that has infuriated and divided the Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgernedered community.
The subject is NAMBLA.
I have removed comment option because this is meant to be a public musing only. It's not meant to foster discussions. It is a place to ask questions, and to listen to what voice speaks from within that answers.
I have heard it said that the NAMBLA membership consists of adult men who as minors had positive sexual relationships with adult men.
Let me repeat that for clarity's sake:
NAMBLA members are aadult men who as minors had what they consider
Positive
Sexual
Relationships.
They don't feel like they are vicitms.
How does this affect my initial revulsion at the though of a national organization that advocates for intergenerational sexual relationships between men and boys?
There is a still small voice that says
They speak from the position of power--
experience.
And yet,
And yet,
the idea of some man having sex with a boy
or girl
or a woman doing the same thing
speaks of such an abuse of power that curdles my blood and makes my bowels knot with rage.
This is an unholy balance.
So. There it is. Are they perpetrators of sins commited against them, or are they the only ones who really have a say in the matter?
Feel free to comment on this in your own journals. I'd be interested in the reactions.
