Nov. 25th, 2008 01:38 pmNo, I didn't get the job--YET. What happened was this; Yesterday I went to the Ace Hardware in town to buy some screws to put my desk together again. After I paid, I asked the cashier if he needed any help. I said that I used to run the tool control program at my last two stations in the Navy, and the pre-expended bin as well.
He said he needed someone to take control of his tool section (no, it wasn't a sexual reference) and that it sounded like a "match made in heaven". I gave him a resume, he gave me an application, and as I walked out the door, he asked "when could you start?". I replied "Yesterday!" and we both laughed.
I returned the application with a list of references this morning. He seemed a bit harried, so I didn't stick around.
If he was serious, and if he wasn't make a veiled sexual pass, I'm hoping to hear from him in the next day or two. Hell, I'm 49 years old, who makes passes at women my age?
Not for nothing, I'm still job searching. Just picked up applications for a county job.
Pounding the pavement all over town. Just dropped off some prints with the Mariposa Art Council for review; If I'm accepted, they may sell my work in their store.
Also met a Wiccan lady, and may have plans for Yuletide this year.
Community is good.
