Date: 2008-11-06 08:57 pm (UTC)This election seems to have been a huge referendum on the past 8 years. Everyone wants change and I'll admit I do too. Bush did no one any favors. But he can't run for President again. Ever. You only get 10 years maximum. McCain shared a political party with Bush but I think McCain is enough of his own person that his term in office would have been a solid departure from the last 8.
This knee jerk reaction is setting the stage for another knee jerk reaction in 2 and possibly 4 years. Why? because in his acceptance speech, President Elect Obama mentions that change is coming but it might not get here in a year or even a term. That sounds like he is already making excuses for why his plans will not work. I don't know if everyone is going to be patient enough to re-elect him if he doesn't produce results. Especially considering the state of Congress.
And in his efforts to ensure results is he going to rush out policies just to get them out there in hopes that something sticks? It's a little too much on the job training for my taste.
I hope I am wrong again. Nothing would make me happier.
