Well, it's Sunday AM, and we are sitting around sort of talking in the living room. On the gigantic speakers, Leonard Nimoy is singing "Ruby, don't take your love to town". The last week has been wonderful--no work, been playing tour guide to Andrew around the wonderful state of Rhode Island.
I've lived in Rhode Island for about 13 years, and have never visited many of the places we went to. Touro Synagogue is actually pretty damn cool.
When Remus arrived, we went to the Athenaeum, where I ran into "Judy"--a woman I had met briefly when I had taken a tour of the John Hopkins house. She's the director of development of the Athenaeum, and she remembered me. She was very gracious to Remus and Andrew.
From there we went to the John Hopkins house, and then on to the Russian Sub. Yes, a real Russian Sub on the waterfront of Providence--and Andrew was in hog heaven. He wants to write a story about Dr. Kralk stealing the sub!
When I took him to the scooter shop earlier in the week, he said "I think I just got wood!" Apparently he can't see the types of scooters in Canada that we have here.
As for Gather, it's been wonderful. I am glad I didn't bow out, and yes, I will be back next year.
This keyboard is beginning to bother my wrist, and so I will sign off. Hopefully I will be able to log on to IRC tonight.
Mike, get writing!
