It's been a while.
Feb. 15th, 2008 06:58 amLots of stuff happening in my life these days, and since I set up LittleRedTent.net, I've been neglecting updating my LJ. If you want pictures, go there. If you want news of my life, come here.
February has been anything but depressing for me this year. Normally I have trouble keeping myself out of the blues this month, but last year I learned that having something rare to photograph helps me deal with the depression.
Two weeks ago we had some serious snow here in Yosemite valley; 2 feet (.5 meter) on the valley floor, and way more up in the high country. I've been swamped at work, trying to deal with all the cold and snow.
Horsetail Falls is doing its annual show at sunset. It's been a challenge because the road to my favorite spot to shoot the falls is closed due to a rockfall, and so I have to drive for about 3 miles and then walk a mile back to the spot. Not really difficult in good conditions, but my first trip out there was rough because of all the snow. I got some good shots, though!
I've been writing a lot about how to photograph the falls, and I was contacted by a Japanese TV production company. They will be arriving Sunday, and I will be acting as a guide, getting them out there for the filming. Yes, I will be paid for it!
Been getting all sorts of emails from fellow photographers about the falls. I finally had to write up a FAQ to deal with them.
I'll be heading over to Mono Lake next Wednesday for the Lunar Eclipse; It will be a long drive because I have to go further north because Tioga Pass is closed for the winter. I'll spend the night in Lee Vining, and be back on the 21st.
Still no back window in my car, but it's covered with plastic and the heat stays in.
It's been warm and sunny since the snowstorm. Except for out at Curry, of course, tucked away in the shadow of Glacier Point.
And now it's time to go to work. Have a great day, folks!
