Broken car, shiny toy, and singing on TV.
Jun. 19th, 2003 08:45 amAs some of you know, I did some modeling for
harliquinn last Saturday, and on the way home my car died. The battery was replaced, and we thought that was the end of it. However, yesterday as I was coming back from Scituate and the horse riding stables, the damn thing gave out again. Alternator. Approx. $200 to fix this time.
:::sigh:::
On a good note, the trip to the stables was good. I will begin lessons on Tuesday at 9:30. Of course, that's *if* I can get there.
In other news, this is my first post using my new Powermac. It's very pretty, the case has a rather liquid appearance to it. I'm still learning the keystrokes--but man, this straight keyboard is a bitch to use after my ergonomic one. And I want my touchpad back!
OK, Macheads out there? why is it that pressing "End" on my keyboard doesn't always work? How do I move from the begining of a line to the end? Why does "home" take me to the top of the page when i am composing an email on my web-based access, instead of to the start of that line?
I know. These sound trivial. But when you're 43 years old, it's a major jump to go from Windows to Mac overnight and blind. I'm leary of making the commitment to Mac exclusively, too. I have a long history of things on my PC that I want access to.
Specs on the new machine: G4 with 1 gig cpu, and 700+mgs of RAM. 40 gig HD, CDRW, and a spectacular 19" Viewsonic ViewPanel monitor. Shiny!
(Ah, just found out how to move to either end of the line: Ctrl+ right or left arrow. And to move to the begining or end of a word, alt(option)+ left or right arrow.)
Today I have rehearsal for the Choir downtown--not sure how I will get there. Tomorrow we sing for the Pawtucket Red Sox game--'Star Spangled Banner". We will be recording tomorrow, and submitting it to the Boston Red Sox for consideration. Yours truly could be on national TV singing the national anthem as part of the Fleet Choir.
Things to do: Get car fixed. Buy Khaki pants. Buy paddock boots for riding.
I dislike boring readers with the minutia of my day-to-day life. So I'll bore you with silly little quizes:
