I think you need to look at why was he drunk (16 years old) and the fact that being drunk doesn't change your beliefs, just lowers your inhibitions (in some people)
The boy best be getting some anger management classes while he serves his prison sentence.
...hmmmm...my questions is: Would they be charging him with assault if they really WERE a gay couple? I've dealt with a drunk assaulting me and he got away with it--simply because "he was drunk and didn't "think" he was being abusive". .....don't get me going...!!! Sorry.....
