Update: Damage just over $800
Jan. 9th, 2008 07:12 pmYes, there are no bananas today!
I spoke with the human resources director this morning. He wasn't able to provide me with an answer, but he will try to get information by Friday. He seems to think it's NPS's baby. Makes sense to me because NPS is the agency that prohibits DNC from cutting down any trees in the housing area.
Yes, I know about junk yard parts. All too well, I know about junkyard parts. I've been taken so many times on junkyard parts; wrong part, won't work, and while I may have only paid $100 for a rear window, now I'm out $100 because it's the WRONG window. Or it's missing a critical component. Plus I'm in the Sierra Nevada; I don't have a car I can drive legally to do any junkyard hopping; Shipping? Might as well buy new.
Looking at $160 for the driver's side mirror. $60 for the wiper arm assembly.
That will get me back on the road legally. Then I can shop around for the back window.

Date: 2008-01-11 12:02 am (UTC)That's where a good local auto body shop comes in. If you tell'em you don't mind used parts, they'll do their best to do so to save you money--they're still going to make a profit either way. Then if they get the wrong part in, it's their problem, not yours.
