HOt buttered rum tonight.
Dec. 22nd, 2007 11:52 pmIt's Yule, and so I splurged and bought some Meyer's rum, a box of brown sugar that wasn't petrified on the shelf, and a pound of butter.
Here's my sooper seekrit recipe:
One stick of butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
generous amount of Garam Masala spice mix from Whole Foods
mix the sugar into the softened butter, and then add the Garam Masala by the teaspoon until the butter tastes right. Store the mixture in a small airtight container in the fridge until needed.
To make the drink, heat a mug with hot water, then add the butter mix; One tablespoon per cup works for me. Add a shot of good rum (and no, Captain Morgan is NOT a good rum, not even the spiced variety. I recommend Meyers at the very least, Pyrate or Goslings.) Add hot water to top off the mug, stir, and drink while warm. A cinnamon stick makes a nice garnish.
