This lovely statue caught my eye tonight as I was perusing the Moo Super-Duper Holiday Card Competition; I had to do a bit of sleuthing, but I've found out the following information.
It is located in the recently restored Kibble Palace glasshouses of the Botanic Gardens in the West End of Glasgow, Scotland. It is indeed of marble, and it is a copy of William Goscombe John's The Elf, orginal in bronze. The original statue was cast in 1912. I don't know if this sculpture was done by the same artist, or by someone else.
