OK, so most of my readers have no clue of the area I will be describing, so I will keep that brief. I took Tioga Pass to the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada, turning north at Lee Vining and Mono Lake. Arrived at Bodie at 8:10 on a frosty Saturday morning, and shot there for about an hour and a half. Then I backtracked to RT 395, continued north to Bridgeport, and had a very good breakfast and one hell of a Bloody Mary. Yum. Then up to Topaz lake, right on the border of California and Nevada, and took a sharp left on RT 89, aka Monitor Pass.

That's a stunning drive. Twisty, curving roads with some of the most spectacular scenery. Shot at various places along that road, then up to Markleeville public library for directions to Grover Hot Springs and some internet connectivity.

Found my spot, put up the new bivvy tent, and then went back to town for groceries.

Then back to the pass for some late afternoon shots. Went back to camp, ate, read some stuff on hot springs in the area, and went to bed.

Up at 6:00 to drive to the pass again, and then stopped at Heenan Lake for shots of fishermen in little inflatable boat chairs. On the way back to my car, a fisherman recommended Hope Valley for more aspens.

Opted for breakfast in Markleevile, again very good.

Headed back to camp to collect a freshly charged battery from Adam, the gate attendant, grab my glasses from my tent and directions and a map.

To be continued!
