Maybe it's a good thing after all that NY said no to Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad laying a wreath at the WTC. He's a homophobe.

"In Iran we do not have this phenomenon, I don't know who has told you that we have it," he said.

Ahmadinejad was challenged during his appearance on Amnesty International figures that suggested that 200 people had been executed in Iran so far this year, among them homosexuals.

"Don't you have capital punishment in the United States? You do too. In Iran there is capital punishment," he said."

No, Mr. Ahmadinejad, we do not have the death penalty for homosexuality in the US. Not legally, not yet.

Woh, I agree that Ahmadenejad is a complete twat for the blatant homophobic comments, but I thought your last sentence a tenuous leap of logic - unless, of course, the figures you read from specifecally stated that's why they were executed. Whilst I do advocate equal rights straight across the board, it came acroos as a touch propogandist. No harm, just thought I'd mention :)

As far as I know, there is no death penalty for being homosexual in America. Homosexual laws are on the books (under such lovely euphemisms as "sodomy" and "crimes against nature"), but none of them in any state carries a death penalty.

However, there are certain Dominionist factions that are lobbying to make it a "hanging" offense.

What disturbs me about the making 'sodomy' a killing offence, is that by definition, sodomy means sexual penetration that doesn't involve the penis and vagina exclusively, so that means I could be put down for recieving head or going down on a lass (really, how's that a crime against nature?!). Looks like you may have to revert back to heavy petting like back in high school ;)
