Yesterday's controlled burns triggered a bad sinus reaction in me, and today I am slightly feverish, nauseated, and it's a bit difficult to breathe. It's been raining most of the night, so the smoke is mostly cleared. The burning grounds are still smoldering, and occasionally I can catch a whiff of smoke.

The big news, though, is that there is snow on Half Dome, and according to a call from White Wolf Lodge, there is a significant amount of snow up there already. I'm skeptical of the stated amount of 8".

Bon Hiver, everybody. Early snowfall this year in the high country. It's Sept 20, and normally we don't get snow until October.

Maybe we will have lots of snow this year.

Oh, the other day I discovered that Oxford has a few Giant Sequoia around. They made me think of you. Picked up a pinecone from one, very nice smell.

We had 1/2" of snow up at Brundage Mountain back on September 18.
