so you had to make your own film and chemicals, develop it in a cave when the bear was out in the woods doing what bears do?

or worse, upload it on a 18.8K modem?

Don't laugh, but I still own a 300 Baud modem...it's a fax/modem for a Newton MP100. Runs on 2 AA batteries, and still works.

My first modem was a 6400 baud.

I also remember uttering the following line: "6 gigabytes of storage? We could be a webserver!"
Yes, I wake up with cold sweats remembering that.

Timex/Sinclair 1000. With the 16K memory module.

Atari 400 also with a 16K cartridge, flat keyboard and a cassette tape drive. I think I wanted to save up to get the 800 so I could up the memory to 32K and be really cool! Or as cool as you could be playing a nuclear reactor simulation game.

And the shock of scale...
A MB seemed huge until it fit on a 3.5" disk.
A CD seemed like more than enough space for a backup. Then a DVD.
A terabyte seemed like something out of science fiction.
