I've tried to be skeptical of conspiracy theories. I really have tried. I know I don't turn everything into a conspiracy; I'm usually the recipient of conspiracy memes, not the generator of them, and I can't say I've ever passed on one. Well, my posts about the threat level going up when Bush's approval ratings going down is mostly snark. I honestly haven't been following it closely.

But when I read this headline, I immediately thought "Oh my gods, Cheney may very well make a power-grab".

'President Bush to have colonoscopy; Cheney to take temporary control'

It's a sorry state of affairs when previously-clueless Edie is seriously wondering if something is going to happen to Bush when he has his colonoscopy*, and we are stuck with Darth Cheney as president for the remainder of this term of office.

*(Allow me to pass along a bit of wisdom I learned on alt.devilbunnies back in my days of blissful ignorance: Don't Take The Easy Ones. And yes, I know, there is a certain poetic justice to the thought of Bush dieing with a large device inserted into his rectum, but I'd rather he lived than have Darth Cheney openly in charge of the government.)

Considering how warm & cuddly Cheney is, I think that would speed up the whole impeachment thing. Especially since the dirt/bodies etc. can usually point back to the Twins O' Evil, Rove & Cheney.
