She's gone.
Mar. 26th, 2003 06:51 amShe's just boarded the plane, and I know this because I spoke with her as she was going down the gangplank by cell phone. She, of course, is my lover of 6 and a half years, Techi. She's flying to Washington State to set up servers for her company, because they are setting up shop at the Bremerton shipyards there. She will be gone for 2 weeks, and may be gone for a month.
This is the first time she's flown. In this day and age, it's hard to believe that someone could live to be thirty one and not flown before. Security was indeed tight, but I found it to be very efficient--something I am not used to saying about anything done by the Government. But it hurt to see her so scared, and not be able to see her onto the plane.
This is a possible turning point in our lives. They are looking to hire someone to be site manager for computer support--this means a promotion, and possibly a significant pay raise. Last night, Techi said that she may not take the position because it will not be enough to challenge her. Previously, she said that it would have to be a very big pay raise for her to take it. Mind you, she has been encouraged to apply, repeated by several of her "superiors", and this even before the position has officially been announced.
This house is so bloody empty. Jay, my 22 year old son, is staying at a hotel in Groton so that he will be able to get to work on time each morning. That was Techi's doing--she got him the job, and she made sure that he would be able to get there while she was away.
I miss her. And that bed, though it looks terribly inviting, just seems too empty to enjoy. And I really am terribly itchy from these god-damn shingles.

Date: 2003-03-26 06:42 am (UTC)You'll be okay. Do something cheery for yourself, is my advice, and call her often. :)

I might even buy a corset, too! Woo-hoo!
