OK, macheads, I need your help; Is there such a thing as a USB adapter for my Mac G-4 that will allow me to use a netbear wireless network here in my dorm? Is airport compatable with a PC base wifi network? pour the info into my ear, friends. Thanks!

Well, I use airport in my G4 as the access point for my entire home network, so yes, it should. And most USB WiFi thingies should work, provided you can find a Mac driver for them.

I'll check to see if my USB WiFi thingy has a Mac driver. It's a spare and I'm not using it, but it's only 11b.

Well, b devices work on g networks, they're just limited to b speeds.

Just out of curiosity, doesn't your machine have an airport card already in it? You machine is new enough to use an airport extreme card, I think. I'm not sure though, it would be good if it did, since those are cheaper. like half as much.

Yes, there are 802.11x USB adapters, and most seem to work with Mac out of the box without drivers.

AirPort is compatible with PC WiFi.
