Stellar's Jay bedevilling a piece of paper

This Stellar's Jay was antagonizing a piece of paper, occasionally picking up and flying into the tree with it. He would peck at it with his beak, and at one point it was stuck. He lowered the paper to the log, stepped on it, and then jerked his beak free. That's when I got this picture.

The jay is rather blue, without being a blue jay. Interesting.

I have seen scrub jays, so I'm familiar with the fact that not all jays are blue jays. :)
