Working in Yosemite is interesting; I've met some very nice people here. One night, soon after I first arrived, I met a young couple. He worked at Adobe Software, and I said without thinking "I would love to have a copy of Photoshop some day". His girlfriend siad they had an extra copy, and that she would send it to me.

I've always taken offers like that with a grain of salt. It's easy to forget promises made while on vacation. I gave her my email address, and she wrote to me to ask for my snail-mail addy--I think it was before I had a post office box, and was planning on getting one soon. I sent it off to her. Heard nothing for a long time.

I received another email last week; She sent it to tell me it had shipped. Her boyfriend had sent it from work.

That means that it's on the way here--a full copy of Photoshop. Free.

*boggle*

Not too long ago, I was talking with a woman who came through my register; She and her "spouse" were visiting from Arkansas, and I mentioned that I heard that they have beautiful quartz cystals there. She leaned in close and said "If you promise to treat it right, cleanse it, I'll send you one!" She took my name and address, and that was the end of it.

On Saturday evening, I went and picked up my mail. I had a package for pick up. I thought it might be the Photoshop, but it turns out it was from the ladyies; They sent me three lovely points. Now I need some kosher salt to cleanse them.

Or perhaps I shall make friends with some of the native Americans here, and ask their help to cleanse them. I noted yesterday on my walkabout over at the "Indian Village" that there were used bundles of sage laying about, tied with colorful yarn. Smudging is another way to cleanse crystals.

Thena, what's your favorite way to cleanse crystals?

Eh, depends on the crystal. Plain quartz isn't fussy. One or more of the following:

Stick it in salt for awhile (overnight or longer)
Stick it in dirt for awhile (ditto)
Soak it in salt water for awhile (ditto)
Expose to sunlight and/or moonlight for awhile (ditto)
Smudge with sage or incense of choice
Visualize it being washed clean in your energy pattern of choice

Kosher salt is fine, so is sea salt. For that matter, the little packets of salt you get with McJunkFood will work if that's what you have on hand. Spring water, rain water, or tap water will do. Some people think that ordinary (processed or human-handled) stuff has contaminated energy and will go out of their way to get the esoteric sort but I'm a kitchen witch and don't hold with that sort of foolishness for anything short of a Spielberg-level exorcism. If the crystals have been well loved they shouldn't need more than a little cleansing anyway.

Have fun with 'em :-)
