Well, some of the more interesting hospitals have gone back to leeches for treatment of edema in limb reattachment cases (fingers included); no word on whether this was something Bobbit got. ("Hey, baby, wanna see where the leeches were?")

You have to get the right kind of maggot, of course; the wrong kind will munch on living tissue (and I say it generically because I have no idea what the ratios are--blowflies, greenflies, who knows which ones eat what, other than the entomologists.)
