It's been a very long weekend--but only when measured by the yardstick of Monday morning. I'm sitting here typing instead of running errands. At least I am fully dressed, not still in my bathrobe, sans slippers because I can't find one of them.

There is a rather obnoxious noise outside my window. There's an air compressor grinding away, attended by an occasional whoosh and hiss of air as it is being used by the pneumatic tools that add their garrulous voices to this urban symphony.

Our house is undergoing major structural repairs. Thankfully, they are not emergency repairs, but have been planned for some time. Techi hired a contractor to prop the sagging floors, first and second. This is no small undertaking, and the noise is second in concern only to the massive amounts of plaster dust that is being flung about with almost equine abandon.

"Equine abandon", you ask?

If you've ever been at a joust on a tilt field I think you will understand the reference. Then horses kick up some great huge clouds of dust that choke. It's bad on the dais, but I REALLY feel sorry for the apprentices who work the trap, keeping the rubes from doing stupid and running onto the field. Gods, you guys are frickin' awesome, and nuts as well. But the craziest of them all are those poor bastards, the squires. Talk about shit jobs.

So here I come home about 9 PM on Sunday, and I walk into a house filled with dust. There's a fine layer of dust on my keyboard, on my bed, over my clothes.

Not only the clothes I am wearing, but also the clothes in my closet, in my dresser, in piles on the floor. *Sigh*.

We do not speculate what this is doing to my lungs and throat. Oh, no, we don't go there.

Meanwhile the compressor rumbles and whines, hisses and groans.

In my absence, cd322 has written another stunning entry. I love his observations on life, and would highly recommend this entry:

I saw Elvis on the #2 Bus Downtown: (Forth Worth City Bus 2/2)

Bit of good news: Possible job op with a local bank by way of one of my fellow apprentices.
Another bit of good news: Once again I am going to be able to attend the annual whale watch expedition due to the generosity of another one of my fellow apprentices.

Live doesn't always suck.

Not a job offer, but a lead. I need to work on it so that it becomes an offer.
