How to clean your boots, part two.
Sep. 9th, 2004 09:04 amell, the boots have been stuffed with newspaper for the last day or so. it took two copies of the Projo to fill them, and that's lightly stuffed so they don't stretch. They are still damp. The recent rains have made it impossible for them to dry. However, they are clean, a nice matte black, no signs of that odd whitening that happens when they get wet. They do smell slightly of vinegar, but it's a clean refreshing smell. I am tempted to put them into the oven, stuffed like turkeys, to dry on low heat.
Once they are dry (I don't think I will be wearing them this weekend, unless I put them in the oven), I will go over them with the Shoe Goo (Yay, Benny's!) to seal the leaks and then a good thick coat of black polish.
I went to "The Good Feet Store" and purchased a pair of really good arch supports, and also to CVS to by a pair of plain old thick cushioned insoles. I've been wearing the supports in my regular shoes, and boy do my feet feel better for them.
I think all in all, it's been a success.

Date: 2004-09-09 06:17 am (UTC)Just out of curiosity last week, I used the heavy-duty snowboarding socks I got last winter, and they're AWESOME. There's extra support in the sides of the feet, heels and calves even... They aren't the cheapest socks... about $15 for a pair, I have an extra pair floating about if you wanted to perhaps give them a try... :)
