Friend from Paradise
Jul. 1st, 2004 06:37 amWay in my long-ago, when I was on active duty in the USN, I met a woman who was truly remarkable. Her name is Denise, and my first encounter with her was after I found out that my 5 year-old son was coming to live with me from the mainland.
I had just been introduced to Denise by my friend Skip, like only an hour or so ago.
Denise owned a condo just outside of the base, had a car. I was living in the barracks, had no car, and was truly flummoxed as to what I would do.
She offered me the use of her house, her car. She was going on leave for a few weeks, and needed someone to watch her house.
I was stunned.
After Denise left Hawaii, we kept in touch. I had been proud to perform her handfasting with another friend, Rick.
We've had our disagreements. We are probably diametrically opposed when it comes to politics. But I am proud to say that Denise and I are still good friends.
I'd like to welcome Denise to my list of LJ friends.
Hey, girlfriend!
