I kinda wondered if the poem was a sort of literary stirring, too. Thank you for your honesty. I have added irregular comic to my friend's list.

Date: 2004-01-09 10:37 am (UTC)Orlando-stunning movie version of the novel by Woolf
Smoke Signals-Fantastic, hilarious, about Native American youth
2. A book. (Or poem.)
Peter Beagle-Folk of the Air...not terrifically obscure, but Beagle is a God. This one might especially interest you as it's about renfaire people.
3. A musical artist, song, or album. (Again; obscure! And more than one is okay)
Okay, brace yourself: I don't know what you're into, but here's a selection...
Robbie Robertson-Contact From the Underworld of Redboy
Native American Contemporary...somewhat political, sometimes cheezy, but with some amazingly powerful tracks. His chant arrangements will make you cry.
Emerald Rose-Fire in the Head
Semi-local (Southeastern) Celtic/Pagan band, who also do some big shows and periodically tours in Ireland. They have a website if you're particularly interested, with locations of their mp3's online. http://www.emeraldrose.com/mainpage.htm
Very nice vocalist, lovely versions of some of the traditionals. I think they're better live, but must put in a plug as (i camp with them and) plenty of people love their studio stuff.
Solas
Incredible Irish band, with an amazing female vocalist. Irish Gaelic and English vocals, WONDERFUL fiddler, with killer versions of more obscure traditional tunes, beautiful original work, and one or two great covers of contemporary bands. Their version of Darkness, Darkness is better than the original. They rock, in a timeless, Irish kind of way.

Learn a new language. I don't know what aptitude for languages might be, but judging by your strong grasp of this one it might suit you. If you learn Scottish Gaelic, i'll babble at/with you.

Date: 2004-01-10 11:11 pm (UTC)Ginger Snaps (http://www.gingersnapsthemovie.com/#) This is a trailer for the sequal which I doubt will be as good as the original, but you could probably find the original at your local video store. It's a werewolf movie but it's very...different, to say the least. Really, if you don't listen to any of my other suggestions you should listen to this one.
Well...you should listen to the other ones too, but still.
