For those of you who follow the Argument shop mailing list (a subsidiary of the devilbunnies mailing list), I would like to direct your attention to an interesting discussion between Yerz Trooly and one [livejournal.com profile] cerebrate, located here:

http://www.livejournal.com/users/ambitious_wench/128468.html

I submit that he would be a wonderful addition to the maelstrom that is the Argument Shop.

Am I right? Am I right? Tell me I'm right, dammit!

He can become one more reason I'm glad I'm not in that mailing list.

I hear it's outlived its usefulness...

Um: If you're not on the mailing list, then how can you know if it's outlived it's usefulness?

Why are you listening to the opinion of one person on the list who obviously is not getting anything out of it?

:::scratch head:::
Things that make me go "Hmmmm....."

One person? More like, almost every member of that mailing list I've encountered so far except for you. Admittedly, that excludes all the members I make an effort not to encounter at all.

I did make an assumption that it was one person. However, I have no inclination to take the world of an anonymous voice regarding the opinions of "almost every member...encountered". I also doubt that they would continue to be members of the mailing list if they felt that way, thereby leaving it to those of us who find it useful for one reason or another.

As for serving its purpose, well, that's an ongoing effort isn't it?

BTW, thanks for reminding me that I'd left anonymous commenting enabled. I've disabled it again. If you're reading my journal, and feel moved to comment, I would appreciate knowing who is doing so.

You're right. Happy? ;-)

As for _anonymous_, I signed off the argument shop because it was eating into my writing time.

But I still think the argument shop is a good idea.

BTW, you're missing a really good discussion on gender, sexuality and LesFest. I miss your contribution there. If you want to read it, I'll be happy to forward the relavent bits.

About gender discussions...

Are you referring to the one in the LJ feminist community? I posted a comment but I haven't checked back on it.

E-mail me with the relevant bits and the urls. I might go snooping.

I must admit to some fascination as to what would happen, in that "stirring random chemicals together" sort of way, but I'm not sure I'm far enough away from ground zero to endorse the idea :-)
