I am reminded of the Song of Songs, which is Solomon's
I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine.
I am the salmon of knowledge, I am the stag of seven tines
Who but I sets the smoking head aflame?
Who but I peeps from the un-hewn dolmen arch?
I am the muse
I am the poem
I am the poet
I am the the transformed
I am the transformation
I am the catalyst
I am the great I am
I am that which is
I am that which is and always will be.
I have been the fire in the fingers
the rasp of file on metal
the crumbling of the rusted lock
the creaking of the frozen gate
I am the rustle of the leaves
I am the itch of nettles
I am the balm of Gilead
I am the jewelweed
collecting gems of dew
and yet my pen is dry of ink.
