One of the things that I've been hearing from my friends lately is that they are tired and exhausted and depressed and feel that their anger is futile. And I don't blame them. You see, my friends have been way more involved in what's happening in America than I have been. And they have been angry for far longer than I have been.

There are times when I have to agree with them. I've started paying attention, and yes, I have to agree that if you aren't outraged, you're not paying attention.

This is important.

This is REALLY important.

Please start paying attention, because those of us who care are burning out and dropping like flies. We need to replace them with folks who will become angry and *DO* something.

Children are being told lies and misleading (dis-)information about condoms.

Evidence obtained by use of torture is being used in military courts.

A woman's right to a safe and legal abortion is melting away.

The dollar is dropping against the Euro.

America is showing more and more signs of becoming a fascist state.

(Pseudo-)"Christian" values are trumping the rule of law.

An Alabama legislator wants to remove all books with gay characters from any publicly-funded library. And it very well may pass.

And only about 40% of eligible voters bothered to do their civic duty this November.

Please, please, PLEASE!

Wake up, start reading, start educating yourself while you can.

Learn who your legislators are, and start sending them emails.

Start asking questions.

Don't be afraid to admit ignorance, or confusion.

Because you have a right to speak, no matter what Ruppert Murdock wants you to believe.

and for the love of America, VOTE!

OK, screed over. Until next time,

Edie
